There’s an old Irish saying “wide is the door of the thatched cottage”.
The doors of The Cottages at Bettystown have been wide and welcoming for over 100 years ...
Brisk walks, swimming, boogie boarding, building sandcastles, even horseracing (once a year) just a few activities which guests can pursue on the strand in front of The Cottages. Roger & Liz have put together a few ‘off beach options’ for guests to enjoy in the Boyne Valley, when it suits, during their stay.
Relish Restaurant has a bistro feel about it and serves a great variety of food from early morning right through to evening fare; this is just a short stroll along the beach and would be ideal for breakfast after that bracing morning swim!
Beaulieu House, Garden and Museum is a very special place, home to the same family since 1650, the current owner is Gabriel, 10th generation. Its Dutch design is unique (to Ireland) and is embellished by the terraced and walled gardens. The museum houses classic racing and rally saloons, the passion of Gabriel a well known racing driver in Ireland in 60’s/70’s.
The wholesome Italian style food at D’Vine Restaurant is very popular in and around the town of Drogheda. Well worth d’voting some time from your break for an evening’s good food and wine.
Newgrange via Bru Na Boinne visitor centre. Needs no introduction, but just in case, a passage tomb built over 5,000 years ago, predating the pyramids. A designated world Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Take a trip to Dublin with Matthew’s Coaches, but that return ticket will bring you right back to where you belong............ in the Boyne Valley and the comfortable surroundings of The Cottages.
